About BioMed Tech
Who We Are
The "Biomed-Tech & Entrepreneurship" Project is the first of its kind in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The project combines lectures given by industry representatives, an annual conceptual "Hackathon" for the Biotech community and entrepreneurship workshops taught by "Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation" at BGU. The project allows the students to encounter the BiomedTech business world and accommodates the academic schedule to allow students to integrate the program with their courses and does not interfere with their studies.
Lectures will be given in Hebrew.

Building 51, Room 15
We are thrilled to invite you to the Biomed-Tech Community opening event for this year!
For those who are not familiar with, the Biomed-Tech community is a student community beginning its third year in the university. The project includes lectures by employees from the biomedical industry, tours to biomedical companies, workshops to acquire important tools and skills, and a product development process together with MSIH - Medical School for International Health.
Over the past two years, attendees who participated in the activities have been able to integrate in desirable jobs after their graduation, student jobs, final year projects in the industry, winning entrepreneurial competitions and more.
The opening meeting will be hosted by Eran Vicus, the CEO of SanoV Pte Ltd, graduated from the department of biomedical engineering in 2006.
At the meeting, Eran will deliver the practical workshop: "From a Medical Problem to an Engineering Solution", where students will learn tools for product development and market understanding while experimenting with various aspects in the way to turn an idea into a biomedical product.
Meditech Global Innovations
04.12 @17:00
Building 15, Tech Hub (Ground Floor)
This Wednesday it's finally happening! The 2nd "Meditech Global Innovations" of future engineers and doctors gets going!
Developer teams of engineering and medical students from various departments will try to find a solution to medical challenges presented by medical students. The process lasts the whole year, and during the year the teams will get initial funding to purchase materials and build a prototype of their product! At the end of this process, teams will present their medical devices and their work will get recognition!
We would be thrilled to see you this Wednesday, 4.12.2019 in the Bengis Center's innovation hub (building 15, ground floor) from 17:00-20:00.
The collaboration goal is to develop low-cost medical devices that are designed to be used by the medical students in their global health clerkship in 3rd world countries, where they give medical treatment.
Want to know more? Don't worry! We recently recorded a podcast specifically on our community’s unique collaboration in BGU's official channel – hope you enjoy it!

Cooperation between MSIH and BME
21.11 @ 17:00
About the Meeting:
We are very excited to announce the first cooperation meeting between the Medical School for International Health (MSIH) and the Biomedical Engineering department (BME)!
The cooperation's purpose is to develop low-cost medical devices that will be used by the MSIH students in their eight-week global health clerkship in 3rd world countries. During past clerkships, the MSIH students encountered a lack of basic medical equipment that disturbed them from giving appropriate treatment to people who needed it. For that reason, the MSIH representatives came up with the idea to cooperate with the BME students in a way that can be beneficial for both sides- the MSIH will get the devices they need in order to treat 3rd world patients, and the BME students will get experience in developing low-cost medical devices.
The meeting schedule is as follows:
17:00- Arduino workshop for the BME students with Amit Milstein. The workshop will include the basics of Arduino's low-cost microcontrollers- A tool that may be helpful in the implementation of medical devices.
18:45- Short background about the cooperation by the MSIH representative, Mr. Mike Diamond.
19:00- MSIH students will present ideas for low-cost medical devices they encountered during their internship.
19:30- students will be divided into mixed teams of BME and MSIH to think and sum up a list of requirements before the next meeting which will include actual production of medical devices.
The workshop at 17:00 is FULL. You can still join at 18:45 in Building 15.
